Description

Under Our Skin: The Untold Story of Lyme Disease by Andy Abrahams Wilson follows patients, families, and doctors caught inside the bitter fight over Lyme diagnosis and treatment. Pain, misdiagnosis, financial strain, and medical gatekeeping drive the film, but its tension comes from how quickly ordinary life can collapse when symptoms are dismissed or disputed. Instead of offering distance, it stays close to the people living inside that uncertainty, where bodily suffering, contested evidence, and institutional power collide day after day.

Who It’s Best For

Best matched to viewers trying to make sense of persistent, hard-to-explain illness through the lens of misdiagnosis, medical conflict, and patient advocacy. A useful second audience is anyone examining how institutions respond when symptoms resist neat categories.

Approach

Patient testimony and allegations of institutional failure form the backbone of its Lyme disease argument. Opposition voices appear, but the documentary is plainly polemical, using investigative cues and personal suffering to press a contested medical claim.
